Youth Programs

Basic Life Skills - Teen Prevention, Pregnancy, Parenting - 3Ps This program offers basic life skills training for 12 to 18 year old youth through a wide range of weekly activities such as cultural events, leadership retreats, conferences, volunteer opportunities, and presentations on career development. Our youth learn social and communication skills necessary to compete in all aspects of life. We stress and reinforce the many benefits of postponing sexual involvement, and also disseminate information about AIDS prevention. We also support youth who have children at an early age by providing early childhood development education, and social service referrals. If needed, we refer students to drug or alcohol abuse counseling, or other programs that are beyond the scope of our capabilities. Our program guides all participants towards responsibility, education, personal development, self-esteem, self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.

YES - Youth Employment Services offers job readiness training and six weeks of meaningful summer employment to eligible high school and college students. These opportunities help our youth begin career exploration, develop a positive work ethic, enhance their educational goals, and obtain wages from on the job training.

The Urban League provides a number of Internships to high school and college students who are Urban League Youth members.

The results of our programs are evident. Students who pass through our programs are confident, have a higher graduation rate, make positive life decisions, obtain jobs and retain them, volunteer in the community, and are empowered to help themselves and others succeed.
